Details
This piece marked the beginning of another form of Magritte's obsessions, the concealment of reality: an object devoted to hiding the vision of a landscape, in a paradoxical way revealing what lies behind it, similar to a trompe l'oeil. It also serves as a metaphor for the strong influence of art on our perception of nature and the universe.
Provenance of the original artwork: Private Collection
